Thandiswe’s big dream
Thandiswe’s big dream is to open her own “mini restaurant” at home, serving traditional food with a modern twist. To eliminate food wastage she also wants to incorporate a soup kitchen to feed the poor. With your company contribution towards SED or Skills Development points, she can achieve that dream!
Thandiswe is a 33 year old mother of two, living in the poverty stricken township of Zola in Soweto. She shares a house with 13 of her family members. All the adults are unemployed and they survive on her mother’s small pension, food parcel handouts and second hand clothes donated to them.
She can improve her situation with training available at the Emdeni Skills Centre. She was very disappointed when the accredited assistant chef course was fully booked for 2020. But this did not get her down. She enrolled for the accredited tiling and painting course. She wants to use these skills to maintain and refurbish her own restaurant. And then she reserved her place for the Chef training in 2021…
The Emdeni Skills Centre depends on donor funding to offer people like Thandiswe a chance to achieve their dreams. Thandiswe needs your help.
Your company contribution can get Thandiswe on her feet and earn you much needed Skills Development or SED points on your BBBEE Scorecard. It will also support all the work done at the Emdeni Skills Centre for numerous unemployed young people.
